Traditional Chinese Medicine has been using the dried fruiting bodies of the Trametes robiniophila Murr(Huaier) fungus for over 1,600 years. This led researchers to isolate and study the substance responsible for the reported benefits. Many clinical research studies have demonstrated that the isolated polysaccharide SP1 found in the mushroom has anti-cancer properties that help prevent tumors from returning after treatment and can help prevent metastasis.

The Huaier extract is widely used to treat different cancers such as lung cancer, breast cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, colon cancer, and much more. A vital role in the anti-cancer properties is the enhancement of the immune system. Enhancing the immune system has some doctors wondering if the extract is also beneficial for the treatment of patients with COVID-19.

There is one clinical study using Huaier extract to treat COVID-19 taking place. A clinical trial is needed to determine if the treatment is truly effective against COVID-19 and what dose is safe to use. For more information visit clinicaltrials.gov.
