SNL’s Michael Che Honors His Grandmother by Paying Rent for Her Housing Complex

Saturday Night Live co-host, Michael Che, is honoring his grandmothers by paying one month’s rent for 160 residents who resided in New York City’s public housing complex.

Che’s Grandmother, Martha, recently passed away from COVID-19.

The celebrity mentions:

“It’s crazy to me that residents of public housing are still expected to pay their rent when so many New Yorkers can’t even work,” “Obviously I can’t offer much help by myself. But in the spirit and memory of my late grandmother, I’m paying one month’s rent for all 160 apartments in the New York Housing Dept. building she lived in.”

Che is urging New York Leaders to join him in making a difference. He mentioned:

“PS: De Blasio! Cuomo! Diddy! Let’s fix this! Page me!”

He hopes that the city has a plan for debt forgiveness for all people in public housing “at the very least” he stated. According to Market Watch, approximately a third of American renters missed their April rent payments.

Thankfully, Che was able to lay off the stress to renters in the complex for the month of April. For that, we thank you, hero! Many people are facing financial crises’ and a small act of kindness like this could really help many.
